Happy Raku Fish

Each fish is made individually by forming a small vase on the wheel and then pinching a funny mouth into place. Later, when the piece can be handled, eyes and fins are added. A large school of them is fired in a bisque kiln so that glaze may be applied.

A raku firing, which is traditionally Japanese, then takes place. Because of the opportunity for variation in Raku pottery, each personally signed ceramic fish ornament is unique.
